Mayor Helen Blackburn

Mayor Helen Blackburn is born and raised in Bundaberg. Helen attended Central State School and Bundy High before leaving to join the Army where she spent four years as a soldier. She returned to Bundaberg with her young family, working at Austchilli and Bundaberg Brewed Drinks before commencing studies at CQU. Helen worked in the telecommunications industry before starting her own awarding- winning small business in town, Vanish Ink. She served as Division 4 representative on Bundaberg Regional Council between 2016 and 2020. As Mayor, Helen is dedicated to leading a transparent Council with a focus on reducing expenditure and getting back to the basics. Her vision is a Council that helps facilitate continued economic and population growth in our region, while supporting community organisations that bring our region together.
