Nicole Amey

Deputy Principal

Urangan State High School

Nicole Amey is the 2022 Teens in Business Australian Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year, 2023 The Next Gen Awards Innovative Educator of the Year Finalist and 2023 Hinkler Series Innovation finalist. She is the Deputy Principal who drives innovation for young people at Urangan State High School, Bundaberg, as well as building community engagement and strengthening the local innovation system. 


Nicole believes in entrepreneurial education as time and time again, she has seen the positive impact on young students and educators. Nicole delivers entrepreneurial programmes through extra-curricular or programmes aligned with the Humanities curriculum. Nicole is an intrapreneur, seeking to be involved in codesigning entrepreneurial programmes and the development of a Global Entrepreneurial Credential. 


Nicole’s industry engagement and involvement in existing ecosystem activities has seen her identified as an ecosystem enabler from across Queensland at the Dept Tourism Innovation and Sport and the ResilientQ Mission with the Office of the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur with a focus on youth engagement and global impact. She has been recognised and contributed to national research alongside a team of Australian educators as part of the Entrepreneurial Educators Exchange (E3). 


Nicole has launched the local E3 Chapter events to collaborate with educators and industry to build capacity in our ecosystem to amplify entrepreneurial education, impact on employability for young people and scalability of business in the Region. 


She presents at National education conferences as a future focused educator with her ethos on ‘it takes a village’ to promote systems change in the education arena. Nicole is passionate about empowering young people and driving systems change.
